The Plant Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all plant operations to ensure efficient production, high product quality, cost optimization, and operational excellence.

This role will drive continuous improvement initiatives and build a high-performance manufacturing organization aligned with international operational standards, particularly within precision engineering and machining environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations Leadership

  • Oversee all manufacturing operations including Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and HSE.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved in terms of quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
  • Establish and maintain effective operational systems, procedures, and performance management frameworks.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet the high precision and technical requirements typical in precision machining and engineering production.

2. Performance & Cost Management

  • Define and monitor operational KPIs such as OEE, productivity, cost per unit, yield, and scrap rate.
  • Improve equipment utilization and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
  • Manage the plant’s operational budget and implement cost optimization initiatives.

3. Continuous Improvement

  • Lead plant-wide programs in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management (TQM).
  • Drive a strong culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce waste, enhance productivity, and improve manufacturing precision.

4. Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a strong management team across all key manufacturing functions.
  • Develop leadership capabilities and succession plans for critical plant positions.
  • Promote a performance-driven and collaborative working culture.

5. Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain robust quality management systems aligned with international manufacturing standards.
  • Promote a safe, disciplined, and highly efficient production environment.

RequirementsExperience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Plant Director / Plant Manager / Manufacturing Operations leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing medium to large-scale manufacturing plants.
  • Mandatory experience working in precision engineering, precision machining, or high-precision mechanical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in multinational or Japanese manufacturing companies is strongly preferred.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of precision machining, mechanical manufacturing processes, or precision engineering production systems.
  • Solid background in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Kaizen, 5S, TQM, or Six Sigma initiatives.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and organizational development capabilities.
  • Ability to build structured operational systems and performance-driven manufacturing teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good English communication skills.
